The International Network of Social Innovators for Human Development (INSIHD) is an initiative led by UNDP and Motorola solutions. The aim of the network is to facilitate the sharing of experiences, expertise, and good/bad practices in strengthening ICT platforms, designing policy measures for the promotion of innovation, entrepreneurship, youth employment, and mobile apps development, harnessing the role of mobile technologies in underserved areas, and increasing the participation of women and youth in ICT.

UNDP has been a pioneer in the use of ICTs for enhancing human development. Since 1992, the organization has supported governments and civil society organizations (CSOs) to harness the new technologies to deliver better public services, enhance participation and engagement of citizens through networking in governance processes, and foster transparency and accountability. By the end of 2012, UNDP was supporting over 200 ICT for development and e-governance projects in 89 developing countries, spending close to 220 million USD.

Throughout 2013, UNDP and Motorola Solutions organized several activities which brought together government officials, academia, civil society organizations, small enterprises and social innovators who are active in the field of mobile technologies. One of the partnership’s key activities has been to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise among social innovators and stakeholders from around the world, connecting practitioners who can jointly work on providing – and developing – solutions to foster human development.
In collaboration with ESPRIT and ESPRIT Mobile association, mobiles4HD workshop was held in Tunisia on October, 9-10 2013. ESPRIT Mobile represented Tunisia then, at Berlin Germany workshop on March 4-6, 2014. Find more about these workshop in the official website: http://www.mobiles4hd.org/network

The next knowledge sharing workshop to consolidate the Social Innovators Network for Human Development will take place in Dakar, Senegal on the 19- 20 June, 2014:
Representatives from local and regional organizations working on mobile applications will be discussing how Mobile Technologies can help poor people leverage their resources and knowledge to enter the global marketplace, demand public services and have a voice in governance processes.
