Arab Mobile App Challenge , From Tunisia to Doha

The Arab Mobile App competition was a competition for Arabs teams competing from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Tunisia in the focus area of entertainment, education, health and employability/entrepreneurship.

Each participating Country  conducted a local “Mobile App Challenge” competition to choose the best mobile application built by a local team. Three teams from each country advanced to the finals in Doha Qatar Feburary 2014 .

I participated in this challenge with my teammate Ayoub Gharbi with our application Islamic Guide , which a helpful guide for muslims all over the world and specially for those who travel a lot . This application runs now on Android , iOS , and Windows Phone .

The local finals were not easy , there were 15 teams with great ideas and great applications and we managed to be in the top 3 with a great presentation . The application was already available on the market before the local finals and we expanded it to have its own social media such as a web site , a Facebook page and a Twitter account .

We travelled to Doha to compete against other teams from differents countries and the awesome part here was that they were all already startups . They all have products available for more than 10 months and they were looking for investeros . We were the only students in this competition and it was amazing to see your own project being a opponent to them .

The most important part about this challenge was to get to know new people and new CEO’s of different startups . They are all looking for mobile developpers and the important part here is go home with too many cards that may not help today but may help in one year maybe .

This was the best experience in my life as a student so far and hope that we will get back to Doha for the Imagine Cup finals this year with my team NewGen with our 3 D Game .

If you want to know more about our application you can visit our website or watch this video or you can watch a demo here . And here’s the feedback of one of the jury who’s Ken Singer a teacher at the University of California in this video .

I want to thank our coach from Jordan Ziad Al Masri , our leader Imed Amri and the ESPRIT MOBILE team for helping us to acheive this and I hope that we made them proud .
